first snow and conferences

We had our first snow here in Sandpoint! It was Thursday afternoon and started with a few flakes and turned into a pretty good snow for about 1/2 hour. There was a dusting on the ground but the snow turned to rain and melted the snow. For those of you who know us the first snow brings a tradition at our house. . . chili and cornbread. We were unable to do it on Thursday night so Friday night we had chili and cornbread and a bunch of people who joined us to celebrate the first snow. Sandpoint football team was playing a play-off game so some came early and went to the game (wet and cold--not football weather for me) and some came later and hung out! It is a fun tradition that Jamie reminded me we have been doing for about 15 years now!

That same day we had parent teacher conferences for both Ben and Amanda. We are so blessed to have such great teachers for both of them. And we are blessed to have kids who are growing both academically and spiritually. We are very proud of them! Ben read his first book today with a little help with those words that just don't follow the rules. Amanda helped him along and would make a great teacher someday if she was interested. Amanda's teacher commented that she is very self-confident and does not look to others for approval. We hope that will continue into the sometimes difficult teen years.
