the details--puppy

Ok, the timeline was like this. . . Saturday, Craig is searching the internet and is looking at labradoodles. He says, "Hey, there is one in Spokane on sale." So he calls and talks with the breeder. He hangs up and talks to me. He calls the breeder back and we get ready to head to Priest River to meet them. The kids had wanted us to come out and play in the snow but we told them there was a change of plans and they needed to get ready to go. They wanted to know where, why, how long, etc. I just grinned and told them it would be worth it. The drive over was pretty quiet because I couldn't think of anything to say but, "What should we name him?" and that would give the surprise away.

We had to wait some time for them but when they finally got there the lady gets out of her car and has a gift bag. The kids are thinking big deal, but they get out of the van too and when the breeder sees them she opens up the other door and hand the kids the dog. The look on their faces was priceless. He had a big red bow around his neck and was so cute of course. They took him into the van and loved on him while we made the transaction with the cash and details. Ben kept asking, "Do we get to keep him?" and we made the trip home.

For those of you who know us well, that was a pretty spontaneous thing for us to do. And it was fun. He seems to be a thoughtful dog, he likes being around people, and he responds to no. His name is Mugg and it has been fun having him. He is making a nice addition to our family.
