Since Monday, things have been a whirlwind. Tuesday we made calls to our family and friends, made announcements and celebrated with mud pie after Amanda's basketball practice. We have joined a Yahoo group that is centered around the Social Welfare Institute where Luke is. It is amazing--we have seen pictures of him when he was just an infant in the pictures others have taken. We found out the Love without Boarders gave him a nutritional sponsorship before he had his cleft lip/palate operated on. Everyone at the time commented on how the formula must have worked--they called him moose he was so big. We have seen his finders ad--the first step in making him adoptable. There is a lady who volunteers at the SWI that communicates with this group. While we can't ask questions directly about him until we have our approvals from China we may be able to learn about his life in a general sense until then.
Today Amanda had her first basketball game--she got a star for best defensive player on her team. She did a great job. It was also great to see UpWard in actions since we missed it last year while on sabbatical. From the tunnel to introduce the players, to the teaching going on the entire game from the refs, to the positive attitudes of all involved, to the great organization and smoothness of the first game day--it was a fantastic time. I am glad we get to be involved.
