The big news here is snow. More and more and more snow. And our snow blower broke a belt. And you can't get a belt for it. And you can't find a snowblower to buy around here anywhere. And we ordered the part but they cancelled the order. And we went to five stores before we found one that had snow shovels in stock. And it just keeps coming with no end in sight. As Ted B would say, "I don't know if were gonna make it." (that is a Missouri flood reference)
Actually, right now the sun is shining and the next storm is not due until this afternoon. Which they are predicting 3-6 inches of snow. That isn't bad, but they aren't so good at predicting that stuff. Yesterday they said 1-3 inches and I shoveled it and it was more like 6 inches and it had snowed another inch before I was finished! So 3-6 inches could be more like 6-12 inches. Good thing we found the shovels!
Christmas was a lot of fun. We had a low turn out on Christmas eve service due to. . . you guessed it . . . snow. The kids opened their customary gift of pj's after the service and headed to bed. The next morning at 6:20 they were jumping on us and yelling, "It is finally Christmas!" Craig and I weren't as joyful as they were. But we made it out of bed and got to the stockings and presents. We felt very loved opening the gifts from our families and our church family. It was fun to see Amanda and Ben give gifts to each other and see the joy of giving on their faces. We had lot's of things to play with the next few days which was good because it was. . . snowing. We had brunch with some friends and had a great time celebrating Jesus birth! Saturday after Christmas we got another 18 inch dump and Saturday night some rain--which make for heavy snow and ice. Not a great combination. The rain did clear the main roads though so that was good.
