Now that Luke is healing up and feeling himself we are having more battles. He tends to wake up from his nap more unhappy than when he went down. So now we are having him stay in his room until he can be happy. I think he is starting to get it. When he starts to fuss, whine and cry he is starting to remove himself to his room or the hall. Hopefully he will start to self regulate a little bit better.
We have been with Luke for just over 2 months and he is so much a part of us that we can't imagine life without him. Sometimes in the heat of the battles it is hard to remember how much he has adapted to already. For example when we first go home he wouldn't go to sleep unless someone was with him in bed or right next to it and he would wake up a few times each night and come to our room. Now he loves his bed time routine and is comfortable going to sleep by himself. He rarely (when he hasn't just had surgery that is) comes into our room at night.
He is trying to speak more, although it is still difficult to understand him and know for sure what he understands. He really is happy most of the time and is very flexible and adaptive to whatever we throw at him. I am sure he was wondering what the heck we were doing this weekend.
Amanda and Ben are at VBS this week having fun exploring space and seeing how big God really is. Luke and I are staying home and trying to get some things done--well, I am trying to get them done and he is trying to have me play with him or hold him, which I take the time to do.
4th of July family camp was really fun. Craig did a great job of bringing together a great team. It was fun to take some time to just be a family and hang out and talk and play games and create things. The kids loved the swimming the best I think.

Wow. Sounds like Luke is really adapting. Huge strides. Yeah God!!! We can relate to the battles, although ours are different. Thankfully they are becoming less and less.
