Today was a big day for Luke. We went to Shriner's and had both casts removed. He was very brave with the saw. His legs are scaley looking but his club foot looks nice and straight. We stopped to meet Amanda on her field trip for lunch and apparently Luke didn't reallize that he had no support any longer, so he unbuckled and slid off his car seat like he usually does. He crumpled into a heap and cried. He has taken a couple of steps but is mostly scooting around like when he first got his casts.
Tonight was supposed to be his first night in his brace but it was much too painful for his broken leg. I don't know who was having the harder time with this me or him. We both shed some tears. He has been through so much in this past 6 months--much joy and much pain. So tomorrow is the call to Shriners to see what we do about this newest development.
It is hard to put into words what this six months has been like and what we have accomplished. My first thoughts are it has been hard--very hard. But the rewards have been sweet. Hearing Luke pray for Amanda, Ben, Mom and Dad is the most amazing thing. He has a family and we have Luke.
