beautiful Arizona desert?

Who would have thought the desert could be so beautiful. It is not Sandpoint beautiful but still beautiful. We arrived at the California/Arizona boarder on Friday. George Agar met us and lead us into the camp site. George and Margaret have been doing this a number of years and know the best places and how to do this boondocking or dry camping. We are thankful to them for sharing so much with us. George lead us in, we parked and Margaret had dinner ready for us--how great is that! After a full day of packing up, laundry, driving, dinner was ready. We are parked beside Senator Wash Lake--just the Agars and us. Across the lake there are about 200 other RVs (that is just a guess and I am probably low). Saturday we took a hike along the dam that creates the lake and met all sorts of interesting pokey plants. The kids and Craig actually went in the lake--Craig said he could not feel his legs after a few minutes. I guess it was cold. Craig and George worked on the batteries--not my area of expertise so I will leave it at that. Cliff and Glenna came out to see us and we visited and had lunch with them.

Sunday found us traveling into Desert Grace Church of the Nazarene. A very friendly church that is part time home to Cliff and Glenna (we get to claim them the rest of the time). We did a crazy thing and did some WalMart shopping in the middle of the morning on a Sunday and then went to Cliff and Glenna's for lunch. They have a great patio with a fountain--it was very relaxing. We came back to our personal waterfront campsite and had a camp fire.

Today Cliff and Glenna took Craig, the kids and me, to "run" the desert. They have a jeep and a 4 wheeler that we took out 23 miles into the desert. I am sure you are thinking, "why?" or maybe "how warm is it there?" or "I am jealous that you don't have to deal with the snow" (got a little carried away with your possible thoughts there). It was fantastic. We will post pictures later. We went out to an old mine and actually walked into it--even me. The desert really can be beautiful. It was certainly an adventure that I will not soon forget.

One of my favorite things about this part of the trip is being with some of our church family. Having 3 months off is wonderful and we are really enjoying it--it has frankly been amazing. But we will be anxious to be with you all soon.
