Luke had a rough night and morning this morning. We were concerned that he may have an infections or something wrong. We went ahead with his ENT appointment in Post Falls but changed a bunch of other plans we had so that we could focus on this alone. Luke didn't have a fever and everything looked good. Our ENT, Dr. Gilbert, said that often when people have surgery they do well for a few days and then kind of hit a wall or a low and then start to get better after that. So that is what we hope has happened last night and today.
He hasn't been eating (or more accurately drinking) much. He is probably feeling hungry but not wanting to drink because of the all the new feelings in his mouth and maybe because it hurts some. We worked at getting some filling food (drink) in him tonight and hope that will help him rest tonight.
I am thankful for friends who on the spur of the moment will take our older kids to the beach with them and for my mom who came home early so Craig could work some today and I could catch a nap. And for those meals that show up just when we need them. This has been hard. It is a roller coaster of emotions and feelings. It is a lot of work and energy to just keep Luke feeling ok and then to add anything else (like a bad night, another doctors appointment, the other kids, the house work etc) is just plain overwhelming at times. I feel on the verge of tears almost all the time and for those of you who know me I am not a cry-er. Getting these thoughts and feelings is helping me see that I need to be leaning hard on my God and not relying on my own strength. Thanks for giving me a place to share and learn.
