We were up and out of the house at 4:30am this morning for Luke's surgery. We got in the pediatric surgery unit at 6:15 but because of being bumped out of our operating room by an emergency, Luke did not go into surgery until about 10:30. He played happily with all the fun toys while Craig and I dragged ourselves around hungry and tired and possibly a little goofy. After Luke was rolled back to surgery we ate some breakfast and then we went to the truck and took naps. We felt much better able to handle what was coming after that.
Luke's surgery finished up after 2:00 sometime. We got to be in recovery with him around 2:30. He was not a happy camper but calmed down once he had some pain medication and was in my lap. He has continued to steadily get better. This evening we read books, played with some puzzles, watched tv and he drank 2 glasses of apple juice. His little face is pretty swollen and looks pretty beat up. It is a good reminder to me of just how hard what he has been through must have been. He is getting more comfortable at the hospital-I can go to the nurses station for more apple juice and to the bathroom without him getting upset.
Since he is resting well now I probably should be too. Thanks for your prayers--they are working! Goodnight.
