Day 2

We went to our appointment at the civil affairs office. It went very smoothly. Luke's nanny was there, he went to her but didn't want to make eye contact and went willingly back to Craig when she handed him off. A little quiet and concerned look on his face for a time but then he was playing around like he had in our hotel room. We filled out the registration (so he can get a passport) and met with the notary to finalize the adoption. He is ours!

We have had a nice day today. We came back from those appointments, had lunch, rested, went to the grocery store and on a walk around town, played in the room for a bit, had dinner and the older kids want to go swim. So I guess I am headed toward the pool.

Luke is a very happy kid and pretty easy to take care of. He is learning that what we say we mean. For example when we are walking around town we want him to hold our hands or be held. When he wants down we let him down but if he won't hold our hands he gets scooped back up. We are trying to teach him signs like more, eat and drink. None of this is coming very quickly. Although it is only day 2 so we have time to work on those things.

He is playing well with the kids and likes to share his phone--if he has his hands on it. He will only wear the shoes that he came with although the clothes he doesn't care about. He is still in diapers so much to our dismay we will be potty training again-a small matter.
