Guangzhou

We have spent the last two days here in Guangzhou in the southern part of China. It is warm and humid and we have entirely too much free time on our hands.

Saturday morning Luke had his check up. He did very well but seemed a little warry of the white coats. Once he made it through the first stop (there were 3) he was smiles again. He is healthy and ready to come home to the US. I also spent about an hour and half preparing documents for the US consulate for our appointment tomorrow. Apparently, we don't have to go to our appointment--our AWAA guide and rep goes for us with all the paperwork. We just have to be available in case there are questions. Then on Tuesday we can pick up Luke's US visa and we will be set!

Today we spent some of the morning at a Qing dynasty folk art musuem and a tea house. The kids went swimming this afternoon. Get this--the pool is on the 4th floor and outdoors. It has a nice skyline view and lots of plants all over. Really pretty. Now we are at Starbucks catching up on blogging, email, facebook etc. Later we are headed out to dinner. Probably we will have Chinese food :)

Luke is really doing well. He is definitely testing his boundaries. He eats everything put in front of him and asks for more. He is picking up on signing more, drink, eat. He sleeps well. He seems to be bonding with the Wikoff clan. He did go to our guide, Amy, today. That is the first person outside of our family he has gone to since his nanny.

China has amazing gardens--they call them parks. Everywhere there are flowers, trees, etc even along the streets. But then even in the museum today there was a spot set aside for a park like area. All over our hotel is space carved out for park like settings on terraces, landings, any space really. Also they have a lot of fountains. It is really beautiful.

I am enjoying Mother's day hanging with the family. It is very special to be spending it in China for Luke's first mother's day. I am sure I will always remember it. It is also nice to be sharing it with my mom. To all you mom's out there Happy Mothers Day!
